Grooming / CSAM

Grooming refers to actions undertaken by an adult for establishing an emotional relationship and building trust with a minor with the purpose of manipulation, exploitation and abuse.

Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) has different legal definitions in different countries. The minimum defines CSAM as imagery or videos which show a person who is a child and engaged in or is depicted as being engaged in explicit sexual activity. (INHOPE).

Trust your Instincts! If a conversation online is too good to be true, it is inappropriate or makes you feel uncomfortable, take it seriously and end it.

Resist pressure and blackmails! If the offender tries to blackmail you to send more intimate content in return of not publishing the photos online, simply resist and ignore the threat.

Stop Communication! End any communication or interaction with the offender by blocking this person and discontinuing any form of contact.

Keep Evidence! Take screenshots or save any conversations, images, or videos related to the abuse. This evidence can be helpful for reporting the incident and aiding in investigations.

Tell a trusted adult! Identify a trusted adult, such as a parent, guardian, teacher and discuss with him/her your concern and uncomfortable experience.

Report the Abuse! Inform a parent or guardian and report the abuse to law enforcement or the appropriate online platform.
